The Boys was always Political.

"People love what I have to say. They believe in it. They just don't like the word "Nazi", that's all." - Stormfront
Originally, I didn't like the road Homelander was set on throughout Season 2. The Boys as a Series was much more niche, and I didn't like the fact that it was aligning its by far, most popular character with a Nazi. After watching Season 2 all over again to prepare for Season 3, I've done an almost complete 180 on what I thought about Season 2. Upon a second viewing, I began to notice how smartly they tackled Stormfront and her Nazi Origins, and how expertly the writers were able to weave this into the Series. In Season 3, The Boys set Homelander on the path to be a Trump-like, Power Hungry Egomaniac echoing this quote from Trump, saying "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?", but this was foreshadowed as far back as Season 2 (to many people's dismay). In which Homelander aligned himself with Stormfront in order to play into the Fear Mongering of Supe-Terrorists, and touting many Right-Leaning Ideologies.
