When I first arrived at Grand Mercure Khao Lak, I didn’t realise how much I needed this kind of escape. After days of fast-paced city life, stepping into this resort felt like slowing down time. Khao Lak itself is different from Phuket or Krabi—it’s quieter, calmer, almost as if the sea here whispers instead of roars.
The resort immediately drew me in with its Thai-inspired design—wood, water, and open spaces everywhere. My room had a balcony that overlooked the lagoon, and waking up to the sight of rippling water and the sound of birds was easily one of my favourite memories from this trip.
Food was another highlight. I treated myself to spicy Thai curries, fresh seafood, and tropical desserts—all authentic, all delicious. One evening, I had dinner by the beach, and watching the sky turn from gold to pink to deep purple while sipping on a coconut drink is something I’ll hold close for a long time.
What I loved most about Grand Mercure was how it allowed me to unplug without feeling cut off. It gave me comfort, hospitality, and the kind of stillness you rarely find in today’s travel. By the end of my stay, I felt recharged—like I had pressed a reset button.
