Bassline note-for-note AS PLAYED including all of his super cool ad-libs by top-notch Bass Player Gary Thain who played a Fender Jazz Bass on this track from the Uriah Heep LP, Sweet Freedom, released in 1973. Unfortunately, Gary Thain died in 1975 at the very young age of 27.
Gary Thain impressed me and many others of his great bass playing skill with this song in particular. R.I.P. Gary Thain. I could not locate any sheet music or (tab) for this bassline so I have spent the past couple of hours transcribing the bassline note-for-note and am pleased with this result.
*****The tone of my bass: My Expert Guitar Luthier, Master Luigi Spezzacatena, of southern Italy, attached a used, genuine vintage 1960 Sprague tone capacitor (value = 0,1mdf) to the electronics (and replaced the tiny, factory-issued capacitor) of my Fender Roadworn Jazz Bass so as to create a 60's tone, while I have worked with the knobs on my bass and amp to attain a flat, yet punchy tone with both bass pickup volumes on 8 and the tone in the middle.
Bass in this video is a 2012 Fender Jazz Bass Roadworn (purchased at Sam Ash, Phoenix, Arizona) with six year old Ernie Ball slinky flatwound strings and playing through a small 60 watt Marshall amp with the Bass tone is at the 3 o'clock position, the Midrange is at the 5 o'clock position, (full) and the Treble tone at the 2 o'clock position.

I own no part of this music. This is an educational / instructional video where my bass is mixed a little louder than the band so it may be easily heard. Aspiring bass players may see where to place there fingers on the fretboard and where to find the notes as played on the original recording.
