I'd like to have a moment of silence for that epic playback failure at the very end of this song where I forgot how to play the fast bit. Also, the third note of the video is a 0 on the E string. After that I play a 7 on the A string, but it doesn't actually show on the tabs.
Anyway, this song is really quite long. But luckily, there is a lot of repetition throughout the whole song. For example, the riff at 0:36 will stay the same till 1:54 which is more than a whole minute. The riff at 7:06 gets repeated 8 times till 8:14 which is also a full minute of repetition. So you might think, "hang on a moment. Nick Beggs doesn't even slap in this song when you look at the live versions!". Yeah, but you can clearly hear those pops in the studio mix. My slapping technique is terrible because I just don't like to slap and pop the bass. I am no Davie504 (love this guy), and I never will be and I'm fine with that. You don't have to slap this bit if you don't know how to do it. What more is there to say about Ancestral.. It's long, it's very fun to play and it's not easy. Oh btw, the riff at 7:06 might actually be an octave higher. It was kind of difficult to hear. Nick Beggs does play it an octave higher live, but the studio version doesn't sound that high to me.
