How to Remove Radiator: 2005 GMC Yukon
Tools Needed:
• Socket set
• Pliers
• Drain pan
• Flathead screwdriver
• Line disconnect tools (for transmission cooler lines)
Steps to Remove Radiator:
1. Safety First:
• Disconnect the battery.
• Make sure the engine is completely cool.
2. Drain the Coolant:
• Place a drain pan under the radiator.
• Open the drain plug or remove the lower radiator hose to drain the coolant.
3. Remove Engine Cover & Fan Shroud:
• Take off the engine cover if it’s in the way.
• Remove the fan shroud bolts and lift it out (may need to loosen the fan as well).
4. Disconnect Radiator Hoses:
• Use pliers or a screwdriver to remove the clamps on the upper and lower radiator hoses, then pull them off.
5. Disconnect Transmission Cooler Lines:
• Use line disconnect tools if needed. Have rags handy—trans fluid may leak.
6. Unbolt the Radiator:
• Remove mounting bolts or brackets securing the radiator to the support.
7. Lift Out the Radiator:
• Carefully lift it straight up and out.
