People with disabilities navigate a world that was not built for them. A new book offers a window into how scholars, artists, writers and thought leaders with disabilities understand what it means to ‘flourish.’ Liz Bowen, PhD, one of the editors of “The Art of Flourishing: Conversations on Disability” describes how the book came about and the messages it hopes to convey. Bowen is an assistant professor of bioethics and humanities at Upstate.
“The Informed Patient” is a podcast that covers health, science and medicine, featuring experts from Central New York’s only academic medical center. Upstate Medical University has four colleges (Medicine, Nursing, Health Professions and Graduate Studies); a robust research enterprise; and an extensive clinical health care system that extends way beyond Syracuse.
