Adventurous Eating in Oaxaca: Street Food, Best Restaurants, Foodie Spots

i’m so hungry making this food vlog! oaxaca is known as the top culinary food capital of mexico. we tried some unique oaxacan street food dishes and went to fancier restaurants as well - and one of them gave us food poisoning (los danzantes!! - has great reviews and beautiful decor though, but we weren’t impressed and stomachs weren’t happy the next day so go at your own risk!) there are sooo many restaurants we wanted to try but prioritized dia de muertos activities during our stay so we couldn’t go to all of them, but here’s a whole list of delicious places we went to and liked:
mercados: benito juarez and 20 de noviembre
street tacos: tacos de lechon
food court: centro gastronomico
hierve el agua buffet: el famoso buffet (tourist trap but surprisingly, we really enjoyed it!)
best tasting menu: tika’aya
rooftop views: cafe boca de monte
highly recommend: casa taviche
mezcal tasting: el cortijol mezcaleria, other recs: in situ, los amantes mezcaleria (shown in ep 1)
