Fasnacht Liestal 2023: Guggenmusik | Lupo-Rueche, Milchgugge, Schlappschwänz | Switzerland

Guggenmusik (brass band music) is important part of Fasnacht in Liestal, which took place between 26th February and 3rd March 2023. Liestaler Fasnacht is strongly influenced by Basler Fasnacht, albeit with a lot of local folklore. It begins with a large street parade on Sunday before "Morgestraich" of Basler Fasnacht. It's the second-largest Fasnacht in north-western Switzerland after the Basler Fasnacht. Concerts of brass bands, so-called Guggenmusik, start the night before shortens the waiting time until Chienbäse. On the following Monday and Tuesday, the Schnitzelbank singing takes place, while Wednesday afternoon is Children's Day (Kinderfasnacht), again with a street parade and masked ball. Fasnacht in Liestal ends on the following Saturday, six days after the beginning of the Carnaval, with a Guggenmusik concert, the so-called Cheruus (Kehraus).
