Soli Lent and Rapide (as part of Gift is Busking to Build his Own Drum)

Here is a video that Gift Iluyomade and I recorded last week during lunchtime at a Horton, a high school where I am a teacher, he is a student, and we co-facilitate Drum Club. From time to time, when we are the only ones there, we record ourselves playing as part of a fundraiser.
Over the last month or two, Gift and I have been busking in downtown Wolfville (a small town in Eastern Canada) from time to time to raise funds so that he can buy the materials to build his very own djembe.
It's a wonderful process! He has to drum to earn the money to buy the materials. Then, with my assistance, he will shape the bearing edge of a hand-carved hardwood shell, wrap the rings in cloth, do the rope work, soak, stretch, shaves the goatskin, then lets it dry for a week. Finally, he can sand it, tune it, and play the heck out of it!
