Audio Astronaut Ep. 18 - Cosmic Waves (surf rock and island music featuring Surfybear spring reverb)

In this episode, we are going to dive into the chilled-out waters of surf rock and island music. First, we’ll use a Surfybear spring reverb to explore the retro sounds of Dick Dale, the Chantays, and the Ventures as we examine the core sounds and elements of surf rock. Then we’ll splash down on the other side of the Pacific to explore two iconic instruments of the Hawaiian islands: the lap steel and the ukulele.

Finally, I’ll use these instruments – alongside a Sonicware Liven Lofi-12 sampler/sequencer – to create some chilled-out, lofi “drip-hop”, a mashup of surf tones, island vibes, and chilled out lofi beats.
