The new camshaft arrived! That means it's time to get the old one out so I can get my $100 core charge back. This covers just about every part on the cylinder head aside from obvious stuff like the gaskets. I also did not touch the valve guides as I'll let my machinist make the call on those after I receive all the parts I need to send to the shop.
This completes the disassembly trilogy. Moving forward from here we'll be machining and rebuilding.
Still waiting on a few things though.. the M52B28 crankshaft has arrived but as I understand I need to have a machinist inspect the crank vs the block to determine the correct size main bearings to purchase. I'm also still trying to decide between 130mm rods and the stock 325i pistons or using the stock 135mm rods and custom pistons or... doing both??
I'm hoping to get everything out to the machine shop in one visit so as soon as I figure that out we'll be moving on. Stay tuned!
