-I want to make it clear that although I was pretty transparent about how close I feel to the particular issues in this movie, my family is actually on its way to achieving this type of closure that is seen. This is a Disney movie after all, and obviously isn't as grey as real life, so I can't compare my situation with a magical film like this.
-That being said, I love that this movie went THIS hardcore addressing generational trauma and its consequences. I do beg anyone who is not of LatinX culture to listen and learn from those of our culture before making theories and assumptions about elements of the movie that can be translated into appropriation/ignorance, thank you.
