Who doesn't want to hike to a peak named Raspberry, especially if your plan is to eat raspberries when you get there?! This route to Raspberry Peak in the Chiricahuas is 9½ miles with about 3,300’ of elevation gain. / @flynnhikes For the shortest route, start at the Morse Canyon Trailhead, pick up the Crest Trail and then skirt around to the east side along the fading Raspberry Ridge Trail before bushwhacking up to the peak. If I had it to do over again I would have saved myself a half mile or so and just gone up from the Crest Trail as shown at 3:43 .
Hiking along the Crest Trail is wonderful, with great views along much of the way and, yes, there are plenty of raspberry bushes near Raspberry Peak. Sadly, eating raspberries on the peak was not in the cards. Here's a link to a loop hike that includes Monte Vista Peak, and Chiricahua Peak, too: • Chiricahua Peak 9,759’ & Monte Vista Peak ...

Forest Service DIRECTIONS to the trailhead: From Tucson, take I-10 east for 72 miles to US 191 then turn south and continue for 21 miles. Turn east on AZ 181 and drive 12 miles to the Turkey Creek Road turnoff (Forest Road 41) then follow this road east 11 miles to the Morse Canyon Trailhead. When you see the Sycamore Campground you have about a mile to go. These roads are rough and dusty and may be muddy and slick when wet. There is a flash flood danger at water crossings following summer and winter storms.
Birds heard on this hike: Yellow-eyed junco, Mexican chickadee, Western wood-pewee
