Italy and Spain | Cycle Touring

After Croatia I landed in Ancona, Italy. I need to get to the other side of the Italian leg so to speak for a ferry to Barcelona so planned to cycle it. After the first 20km I realised I may not make my ferry, the roads were terrible, there were no alternate quiet routes and the drivers paid no heed to the safety of a cyclist. For the first time in months I put my helmet on. I arrived in Osimo and met the head priest of the Cathedral, Father Dino, who offered to make lunch which I accepted. It then started to rain and he offered the couch for me to stay the night, I accepted and so after a tour of the Cathedral I explored the beautiful town of Osimo.
Dino helped me decide what to do next which was get a train to Perugia. So the next day I cycled to the train station got absolutely soaked but made my first train. I then missed the announcement that my train to Perugia had changed platforms and so missed my train and had to wait some time for another train, but that meant I would be too late for the second connection and I ended up in Foligno late at night with nowhere to stay...so I scouted for a place to wild camp and cycled a few kilometers out of town when I spotted a fence with the shell of the Camino - a sign! The house was dark, the gate slid open, so I parked my bike against the house and slept rough in the garden. It was my first cold night and I was up early because of it. There was a service station with a cafe across the road so I went straight in for coffee and discovered they made pizza too so treated myself.
The rest of Italy was superb, meeting Mirko who was also shared his dinner with me and then pulled out a massive catfish the following morning...
Seeing my family too was special.
Then Spain...what a place to cycle.
And finally, the circle complete, into Arrasate after leaving at the end of June, 4 months earlier.
