I see many people have been reporting their FitBit Aria failing. in the same way i.e. the Step-on, sensing, step-off, thinking, Err Error. Unfortunately mine just as started to exhibit the same symptoms, but contacting Fitbit it turned out that my unit is just outside of warranty :( Bummer! However, considering that I had nothing to loose I decided to have a look inside, especially after reading online that some guy had the same problem and was able to easily fix it. The problem is or rather are, the really slopilly laid out long cables, which get pinched by the plastic reinforcement ridges. As you can see in the video there was one cable that even had bare wires exposed, however it turned out that this is not the problem. I thought that it might then be the problem with the memory/firmware as some have stipulated online. However I took it apart again (this without video) and now examined more closely all of the wires moving them around and found one which had the insulation intact, but it was clearly pinched and had broken inside conduit. I moved it around an used tape to secure it in place, and the scale now works, although still behaves a bit erratic sometimes, especially when I step on it too hard and it shifts on the floor ... nevertheless it looks that this clearly was a problem and resoldering new cables and arranging them more neatly should make it as new!
