The Island of Borneo (the third largest Island in the world) is home to some of the oldest rainforests on the planet with a simply incredible biodiversity. It is home to the oldest rain forests on Earth! Sabah boasts over 200 species of mammal, 450 species of bird, over 8,000 plant species and a myriad of different insects, reptiles and amphibians. With a high level of endemism, many species are found nowhere else on Earth. A host of different primates inhabit Borneo’s rainforests, the two best known being Orangutan and Proboscis and sabah’s birdlife is as spectacular as it is diverse. This is a record of the amazing wildlife we saw on our three week trip.
In Part 2 we visit Deramakot Nature Reserve, Sepilok and Kinabatangan River. We filmed Orangutans Proboscis Monkeys, Borneo Sun Bears, Borneo Leaf Bird, Borneo Black Banded Squirrel, Bornean Slow Loris, Bornean Keel Viper Bornean Pygmy Elephant (THE SMALLEST ELEPHANT IN THE WORLD), Borneo White Lipped Frog, ALL ENDEMIC TO BORNEO.
The rare Sunda Leopard Cat, Mossy-Nest Swiflet, Silvered Leaf Monkey, Philippine Temple Pit Viper, White Bellied & Common Flameback Woodpeckers, The Great Slaty Woodpecker (THE LARGEST WOODPECKER IN THE WORLD) & The Green Crested Lizard.
In addition to the above I filmed all sorts of plants, insects reptiles and birds.
In Part 3 we visit; Gomangtong Caves and the Danum Valley.
