We Found THOUSANDS in Logging Gear ABANDONED

We found thousands of dollars in logging gear abandoned—in an old shed sitting on a sinking raft deep in coastal British Columbia.

While cruising through Draney Inlet off River’s Inlet, we set out in search of a long-gone A-frame logging rig. The rig itself has vanished, but the machinery that once powered it is still perched on logs, slowly being reclaimed by the inlet.

Anchored in front of a roaring waterfall that felt like Chatterbox Falls without the crowds, we battled horseflies and explored what’s left of BC’s logging past.

Living on a boat lets us see places like this that most people never reach—hidden corners of the coast where history is literally sinking away. Finding so much valuable equipment left behind to rot was both fascinating and sad—a forgotten chapter in the story of logging in British Columbia.
