Solutions Journalism: David Bornstein at TEDxBYU

David Bornstein makes a case for making "solutions journalism" a standard part of news.

David Bornstein is a writer working to advance the practice of solutions journalism. He created and co-authors the Fixes column in The New York TimesOpinionator section, which explores solutions to social problems. He is the founder of Dowser.org, a site that specializes in solutions journalism. His books include How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas, The Price of a Dream: The Story of the Grameen Bank, and Social Entrepreneurship: What Everyone Needs to Know, as well as a forthcoming book that will highlight some key patterns in social innovation. Bornstein has been an Avina Leader, a senior fellow at Civic Ventures, a founding board member of VisionSpring and a member of the Clinton Global initiative and the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Social Entrepreneurship.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
