This is the Quail Roost Drive railroad crossing on the CSX Homestead Subdivision which was officially abandoned on March 2019 and is now being reclaimed by Mother Nature. In some parts you can't even see the rusted rails anymore as it so dense. The last train to come on these tracks was in 2016 to remove some hoppers from storage. Since then signals and gates have been removed in most of the crossings on the last 12 miles of this subdivision. It was built in 1926 by Seaboard Airline and even connected with the FEC Miami Extension of the Overseas Railway alongside US 1on the way to the Florida Keys and Key West. This historic railroad play a vital role in the development of Miami and South Florida as we know it. Check out the 2011 Before and after in the beginning.
