Meet Dr Natalie Beveridge, who partnered with the Society for Acute Medicine in a coached QI project to reduce the length of stay for patients in hospital with respiratory infections.
By safely limiting IV antibiotics and weaning oxygen earlier, the team cut over 4,000 kg of carbon emissions over a year within their Acute Medical Unit at Whiston Hospital, part of Mersey and West Lancashire Trust.
Another inspiring example of how to deliver safe and efficient care more sustainably. Clinicians can take simple daily actions to reduce climate impact and improve population health long-term.
