IBRAHIM AZIZ
Ibrahim Aziz specializes in the performance of baroque, renaissance and contemporary music for the viola da gamba.
He studied at Trinity College of Music London (now known as Trinity Laban) under Alison Crum where he won the college’s Gold Medal in 2005. He then began a career performing as a chamber musician and soloist on the viola da gamba and has worked with many period instrument ensembles and orchestras worldwide. Ibrahim is a founding member of the viol consort, Chelys.
Recent reviews of his début album, Risonanze, include ‘a musician with a distinctive voice’ and a ‘recording to be reckoned with’.
Ibrahim has performed in many prestigious venues and festivals around the world, working and collaborating with other musical artists and groups. He has recordings on the BIS, Delphian, Signum and Resonus Classics labels with several ensembles such as The Rose Consort of Viols, Charivari Agréable, and Chelys Consort of Viols, and has released two solo albums with First Hand Records.
