If you think vote fraud is something new or doesn't exist, think again. In this video, Ron Guth tells the story of a scheme in the 1864 Presidential election to coopt votes from soldiers out fighting in the Civil War to move votes from Abraham Lincoln to his opponent, George McClellan. The scheme was revealed by a mole who pretended to be a McClellan sympathizer and was brought into the conspiracy. Hundreds, if not thousands, of votes were created out of thin air and they could have had a dramatic effect on the outcome of the election. Fortunately, the mole revealed the scheme and saved the day (and perhaps Lincoln's presidency). Watch the video for the details and read the New York Times article from 1864 at:
