“Fever” was released on Toad the Wet Sprocket’s 2021 album Starting Now. Written by Glen Phillips, the song was inspired by the tragic 2018 Santa Barbara County mudslides, which followed catastrophic wildfires and took more than 20 lives in the band’s hometown area. The lyrics reflect grief, renewal, and community resilience in the face of loss. This live version—performed by Glen Phillips with Jonathan Kingham on piano and harmony vocals—was recorded on January 20th, 2023, at the historic Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley, Massachusetts, a beloved venue known for its intimate listening room and rich musical legacy.
