Part 3 of my Cinque Terre hiking series takes us from Riomaggiore to Manarola via the iconic Via dell’Amore. One of Italy’s most legendary (and scenic) coastal walks. This trail, also known as the “Path of Love,” only just reopened in February 2024 after being closed for over 12 years due to landslides. Someone in Vernazza told me they thought it was overrated but I had to check it out for myself!
It’s short! Just 1km, but absolutely stunning, with sea views, dramatic cliffs, and a fascinating backstory. The route was originally created in the 1920s to connect workers between the towns, and later became a symbol of local love stories.
In this video, I explore the colourful streets of Riomaggiore, walk the Via dell’Amore, and end in the beautiful village of Manarola. I also chat through how the Cinque Terre Card works (free trains, discounts, and more), plus give you a feel for what to expect along the way.
