I bought a few Nady SP-5's a long time ago when that was all I could afford. Since then I've bought a few Shure SM57's and the SP-5's sat on the shelf. Today, I remembered how awesome I thought the SP-5 was for the price ($10), so I decided to do a little comparison on a snare drum. I put the mics as close to the same positions and angles as possible.
My favorite is an SM57 on top and a SP-5 on bottom. What's yours?
