‎کربلا کی خاک پر کیا آدمی سجدے میں ہے - افتخار عارف

‎کربلا کی خاک پر کیا آدمی سجدے میں ہے
‎ موت رُسوا ہو چکی ہے زندگی سجدے میں ہے

‎ وہ جو اک سجدہ علی ؑ کا بچ رہا تھا وقتِ فجر
‎ فاطمہؑ کا لال شاید اب اُسی سجدے میں ہے

‎ سنتِ پیغمبرؐ خاتم ہے سجدے کا یہ طول
‎ کل نبیؐ سجدے میں تھے آج اک ولی سجدے میں ہے

‎ وہ جو عاشورہ کی شب گُل ہو گیا تھا اک چراغ
‎ اب قیامت تک اُسی کی روشنی سجدے میں ہے

‎ حشر تک جس کی قسم کھاتے رہیں گے اہلِ حق
‎ ایک نفسِ مطمئن اُس دائمی سجدے میں ہے

‎ نوکِ نیزہ پر بھی ہونی ہے تلاوت بعد عصر
‎ مصحفِ ناطق تہِ خنجر ابھی سجدے میں ہے

‎ اِس پہ حیرت کیا لرز اُٹھی زمین کربلا
‎ راکبِ دوشِ پیمبرؐ آخری سجدے میں ہے

TRANSLATION+ GLOSSARY:

On the sand of Karbala, what a (remarkable) man is in prostration
Death has been disgraced, now life itself is in prostration

That one prostration of Ali that remained incomplete at the time (prayer) of dawn (1)
The son of Fatima is possibly in that same prostration (completing that prostration)

The elongation of prostration is the sunnah of the Last messenger (PBUH)
Yesterday, it was the Prophet (PBUH) in prostration. Today a Wali of Allah is in prostration

The lamp that had been extinguished on the night before Ashura (3)
Now, until the end of time, it’s light is in prostration

Upon whom the people of truth (justice) will swear by, until the day of judgement
That satisfied soul is in everlasting prostration

The Quran will also be recited at the spearhead after asr (3)
At this moment, the talking Quran (Imam Hussain) is in prostration under the dagger

What is the surprise that the land of Karbala started shaking
The rider of Prophet Muhammad’s shoulder is in his last prostration

(1) Hazrat Ali was fatally struck in prostration in prayers. So a sajda remained incomplete.

(2) Referring to the fact that Imam’s head recited the Quran when it was raised on a spear after his shahadat

(3) Imam Hussain had extinguished the lamp on the night before Ashura, and told his companions that if anyone wants to leave, he is free to leave in darkness
