Making THAI MICHATE out of Old Rusty Leaf SPRING

In this video, I take you through the process of creating a custom Thai michate sword from a scrap leaf spring. I begin by picking up an old leaf spring from scrap metal. The first step is to heat the spring in a furnace to make it easier to straighten. After it's heated, I use a grinder to carefully cut off any extra material and shape the blade.
Once the blade is roughly shaped, I weld and seal any holes in the metal before cleaning the surface with a belt sander. After that, I work on the blade design, adding two holes and a line along the blade for decoration and visual appeal.
I use a vernier caliper to make sure the blade is properly aligned, ensuring everything is symmetrical and precise. Next, I craft a custom brass guard to fit the blade, giving it an elegant and sturdy look. For the handle, I create a double-handed wooden design using a wood lathe, shaping it for a comfortable grip.
Once the blade and handle are assembled, I quench the sword in oil to harden the steel, making sure it’s strong and durable. The next step is a lot of sanding—using different grits to smooth the blade and get rid of any rough spots. I then polish the blade to a mirror-like finish, giving it a clean, shiny surface that reflects light beautifully.
Finally, I test the sword’s sharpness to make sure it cuts well. The end result is a unique, hand-crafted michate sword that’s both functional and visually striking.
