Cleaning is crucial to maintain control of the compounding suite. This session will provide SCC participants with examples and best practices for cleaning, disinfecting, deactivation, and decontamination. The session will include demonstration and practical approaches to effective cleaning of primary and secondary engineering controls, with tools, cleaners, dwell times to ensure effective cleaning of the clean room suite and equipment.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the possible routes and types of exposure to hazardous drugs that can put staff at risk.
Understand the differences among decontamination, degradation, and deactivation with the types of agents commonly used, and compatibility with surfaces and supplies.
Interpret the results of decontamination data from lab studies versus results from sampling for hazardous drug residues.
