No Waste Challenge

I promised to share a video on the insights I gained through my challenge with WWF to live without waste, and here it is. It was a huge learning curve, I didn't realise the extent to which I depended on things that are packaged or disposable. Hopefully this video is useful to anyone who wants to reduce the rubbish they produce. It is a hugely beneficial endeavour - obviously in reducing external impact on this planet and living sustainably, but also in terms of saving money and living a more fulfilling life!

REDUCING WASTE
Consume less:
Quality over quantity
Homemade
Experiences over things
Avoid food waste
Use leftovers
Comprehensive grocery lists
Utilising food scraps
Feed pets
Apple cider vinegar
Fruit leather
Eat fruit and veggie skins
Veggie stock
Compost
Challenging the system
Rubbish Free
Reusable grocery bags over plastic bags
Tea strainer and loose leaf tea instead of bags
Handkerchiefs instead of tissues
Reusable take-away coffee cup
Reusable water bottle!!
Face cloth rather than face wipes or cotton pads
Period cups rather than tampons / pads
Use cloths and hand towels rather than paper towels in the kitchen
Take your own reusable cutlery if you eat places where they give you disposables
Choosing products that are packaged with cardboard, reusable containers, recyclable materials
Skipping the bags for loose produce
Using containers in the fridge rather than cling wrap, and reusable sandwich bags for lunch rather than cling wrap
Buying jars rather than cans
Eating at the place rather than takeaway
Buy in bulk
Combine online orders- think ahead and maximise the use of that packaging
Shop secondhand
And if you cant avoid packaging you can recycle it.
