A series aiming to give a virtual tour of the U.K.'s most remote, inhabited island - Fair Isle. Join me, Rachel, as I guide you round the sights and locations of the island that has been my home for the last five years. I hope to share with you the stunning scenery of the isle and a look at life here.
Episode 37 - Remembrance Sunday and Fair Isle at war
In this episode we look at how, despite its remote location, Fair Isle has been caught up in both World Wars - from the radar station on Ward Hill to the map and compass used by two teenagers escaping occupied Norway; the bombing of South Light to a tour of the wreckage from a Heinkel that was shot down. We also take a look at our Remembrance Service traditions here on the isle, culminating in today's 'masked and socially distanced' wreath-laying.

I am incredibly grateful to Dave Wheeler for giving me permission to use his photo of today's wreath-laying at the War Memorial and, as always, to Anne Sinclair and the members of Fridarey for permission to use their beautiful music.
