Yusuf Estes embraced Islam at the age of 50 after meeting with a Muslim for the first time in his life. Until then, he had the belief that all Muslims were terrorists and bombers. He was a priest and Christian musician minister as well as owner of several music stores.

Shaykh Yusuf, a former preacher against Islam despised having to meet with a Muslim but being a dutiful servant of the cross, he decided he would convert this Muslim who needed to be saved in the name of Jesus. However his encounter with this Muslim and the events that followed impacted him and his family greatly. Eventually he and his wife and children embraced Islam, as well as his father and stepmother. Yusuf Estes omfavnet Islam i en alder av 50 etter møtet med en muslim for første gang i sitt liv. Inntil da trodde han at alle muslimer var terrorister. Han var prest og kristen musiker samt eier av flere musikkbutikker.

Yusuf Estes, en tidligere predikant mot islam som ville være en pliktoppfyllende tjener av korset, bestemte at han ville konvertere denne muslimen han møtte i forretningssammenheng. Han mente at muslimen trengte å bli frelst i Jesu navn. Møtet med denne muslimen og hendelsene som fulgte påvirket ham og hans familie sterkt. Til slutt valgte han selv, hans kone og hans barn å omfavne islam, så vel som hans far og stemor.
