Is This Hub Motor Actually GOOD for Trail Riding? (Bafang G0900) Axum FS Ebike Vlog

Welcome back! We're out for another test ride on the Schwinn Axum FS build at Willow River State Park. This is the third time out, and I'm really getting a feel for the bike.

The Bafang G900 motor is running great, and I'm loving the new Fox shock. My favorite part about this build is how QUIET it is. It's running so smoothly, and the only real noise is the chain clanking around, which I'm planning to fix soon to make it a "very silent ride."

This ride was also a test for my new $100 Android phone (a 2024 Moto G). It was... interesting. I'm used to my iPhone (which used to call 911 on rides!), but this one kept randomly turning the flashlight on!

I share a lot of my thoughts on the pros and cons of hub motors in this video—specifically how they let you keep your drivetrain and how the unsprung weight actually helps plant the rear wheel.

The bike is feeling great, though I think the stock rear tire is garbage and I'll need to rebuild the motor into a better rim for true mountain biking. I also managed to bottom out the fork and got a little "too wild on the Wild Turkey" trail.

The ride got cut short because I was starving (only ate one banana!), but overall, it was a great test. The Axum FS is working smoothly and quietly!
