Nortec Condair Industrial Steam Humidifier Pot Replacement

Dear Diary,

Last week my brother and I replaced the humidifier pots/canisters/cylinders out of two Nortec Condair industrial steam humidifiers in a printing room at a packaging factory.

These humidifiers don't actually have heaters in them, they have 2 electrodes connected to live and neutral which are immersed in water. The water provides the conductivity it needs. An old trick of the trade is to add a small amount of table salt to the new humidifier pot to help increase the conductivity.

There was a bit of a discussion on my Instagram post about this, saying that the added salt trick as been debunked, that adding salt is "moot" as the pot fills and drains so many times during start up. But I think if the salt helps at all, what's the harm in using it.
