Making A 10+ Ct Ruby Pendant

This pendant started as a dream that I was not sure if I could even create. I have never made a pendant with gems before. This was only my sixth time setting gems. I am completely self taught and I absolutely love every moment of it! I designed this pendant using blender then printed it with castable resin. I then cast the piece using a sterling silver alloy that is designed to cast with little to no oxides. I think choosing this alloy and my inexperience is what caused the problems I ran into. I broke half of a smaller prong off from cutting off the sprues I designed into the pendant. Luckily I had just enough to set the smaller gem and you would never even know. There was a ton I did not film because there were some times that I was not even sure if I would complete it. I kept pushing through and right near the end I noticed that I had a hairline crack in one of the main prongs. I used my spot welder that I used to join the two pieces together along with some fine half hard sterling silver wire as filler wire to repair the crack and carry on. I had seen some people do it with a laser welder so I knew it was possible and it was my only option. This was all for learning purposes and I did not want to solder it even though the gems could handle the heat. I still have to make the bail. I made tons of design mistakes that I will never make again but over all it turned out way better than I could ever imagine!!
