Building low watt amplifiers using IC chips can be a lot of fun, and can be rewarding when you find a combination of components that work well together. In this video I put four low watt amps to the test with two guitars and a decibel meter. Three of the amp circuits are designed around the common LM386 IC chip. Unfortunately, trying to record at different volume levels without changing microphone input levels resulted in some clipping, so the sound quality in some of the max volume tests is heavily distorted.
