Islamgarh (Urdu: اسلام گڑھ ) is a tehsil and Municipal Committee of Mirpur District near Mangla Dam of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It is located on the southern part of the Pir Panjal Range, about 28 Kilometer in North-East of Mirpur. It had a population of 175,651 in 2023.

Mirpur (Potwari: مرپر; Urdu: ميرپور), officially known as New Mirpur City (Urdu: نیا میرپر شہر, romanized: nayā mīrpur shèher), is the capital of Mirpur district located in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan which has been subject of the larger Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India since 1947. It is the second largest city of Azad Kashmir and the 74th largest city in Pakistan.

A significant portion of the population from the district, the Mirpuri diaspora, migrated to the United Kingdom in the mid-to-late 1950s and in the early 1960s, mostly to West Yorkshire, East and West Midlands, Birmingham, Luton, Peterborough, Derby and East London. Mirpur is thus sometimes known as "Little England". Many British products are found, and many shops in the city accept the pound sterling.

Charhoi is a tehsil of Kotli District, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. It is the largest city in Kotli district and is the headquarters of the district subdivision. A shrine of the poet Mian Muhammad Bakhsh is about 5 kilometers away from the main bazaar. Charhoi has a police station, post office, 3 big Jamia masjids and a 50 beds tehsil headquarter hospital, Charhoi Gala is main entrance of Charhoi city. Batowa, new batowa,Narakot, Chahwala, Dahmal Bazar, Damas and meda town is creation of a man name Juna Khanka Kotera, Sanyah are the main places around Charhoi. Charhoi is situated some 50 kilometers away from Mirpur City and around 30 kilometers from Khuiratta. Dahmal Nursery is a lush green place some 5 kilometers away, towards Khuiratta.

Kotli (Urdu: کوٹلی) is a city in Kotli District of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. It lies on the Poonch River, and the river contains several waterfalls, including the Lala Waterfall near the town of Kotli, and the Gulpur Waterfalls at the village of Gulpur to the southwest. As per the 2017 Census of Pakistan, Kotli had a population of 46,907.

The city itself has gone through a process of modernization, but most of the surrounding area relies on agriculture.

Kashmir is the northernmost geographical region of the Indian subcontinent. Until the mid-19th century, the term "Kashmir" denoted only the Kashmir Valley between the Great Himalayas and the Pir Panjal Range. The term has since come to encompass a larger area that includes the India-administered territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the Pakistan-administered territories of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, and the Chinese-administered territories of Aksai Chin and the Trans-Karakoram Tract.

In 1820, the Sikh Empire, under Ranjit Singh, annexed Kashmir.[4] In 1846, after the Sikh defeat in the First Anglo-Sikh War, and upon the purchase of the region from the British under the Treaty of Amritsar, the Raja of Jammu, Gulab Singh, became the new ruler of Kashmir. The rule of his descendants, under the paramountcy (or tutelage[5][6]) of the British Crown, lasted until the Partition of India in 1947, when the former princely state of the British Indian Empire became a disputed territory, now administered by three countries: China, India, and Pakistan.
