The 5th show in Bob Carlton’s 2015 SubSonex airshow season was flown at Dillon Colorado’s “Highest Show on Earth” June 13, 2015. The airshow is held over the Dillon Reservoir with a surface elevation of 9,017 ft MSL and density altitude exceeding 11,000 ft… an environment in which many piston showplanes struggle. The SubSonex performed exceptionally well in this challenging environment, taking off at a high density altitude airport 35 miles away from the show site, having the power to complete vertical and over-the-top maneuvers, and the range to get back to the field with a reduced aerobatic fuel load, including some sightseeing!
