How to Install a Shackle Tool Attachment

The FallTech For Tools™ Shackle Tool Attachment is a shackle used to attach the FallTech For Tools™ Tool Tethers on tools up to 15 lb, for use with FallTech® Wrist Attachments and Tool Anchors.
The FallTech For Tools™ Shackle Tool Attachment is designed to be used as a component in a dropped object prevention program. The tool tethering system is an assembly of components and subsystems to arrest a tool from an accidental drop. The system typically consists of tool attachment, a tool tether, and a tool anchor. See product labels for maximum load capacity and maximum allowable tether length.

The FallTech For Tools™ Shackle Tool Attachment is designed for use by a single tool with a combined weight no greater than 15 lb (2.8kg) or based on the rating of the Tool Tether. DO NOT use the Shackle Tool Attachment if it interferes with the proper use of the tool. Use the appropriately rated tool tether.

Inspection:
Inspect the Shackle Tool Attachment thoroughly before attaching it to the to the tool for damage or wear. If any of these conditions exist, remove from service. Inspect the webbing and stitching for cuts, fraying, and signs of damage to the webbing from excessive wear or abrasion.

Installation:
Ensure the tool and Tool Shackle Attachment is clean and free of oil, grease, or debris. The Tool Attachment should be placed away from the functional parts of the tool. See the figures below for the installation steps.

Select the Tool Shackle size. The tool must be able to fit within the shackle body but be captured so that the tool cannot slip out.
Unscrew the screw pin and place the tool inside the shackle body.
Apply a thread locker to the screw pin threads and reinstall the screw pin. Tighten the screw pin with pliers.
Ensure the shackle cannot be removed by sliding the tool through the shackle on both ends of the tool. Attach a tool lanyard to the shackle.
