I had a double malfunction. Upon deployment a main canopy suspension line got caught on an "extra" tab, on the closing loop tab. The extra tab was a "fix" to a known issue with the rig. On this jump I knew there was a problem as soon as my main started to grab air and started to pull me unevenly. I quickly realized that it was a malfunction that I wasn't going to fix. I cut away and pulled my reserve. RSL was in use however. The main canopy line that was caught on the tab in the back of my rig entangled with my reserve on deployment. It was at this moment I was like OH SHIT. I had two out. Neither was fully inflated and the line sets were severely twisted together. The risers had twisted up also and I could not even raise my head thru my risers. That is why it takes me so long to look up. Until I looked up I had know idea what was above me. I was hoping for better than what I saw. I just keep trying to work my way thru the next problem. Once I could look up I started pulling my risers apart. It was sometime around now that things started to spin so fast. I think I felts some g's. But I keep trying to get the lines separated. At this point the ground is getting closer than I'm used to seeing it in free fall. I kept trying until the canopies came apart. My reserve was fully inflated under line twist at about 300 ft. I did not have a hook knife to get rid of the main. I dealt with what I had. I managed a flare but still hit the concrete pretty hard. Walked away and drove my self to get stitches for a small cut on my elbow.

****Sunpath did issue a Service Bulletin for these containers. This was a known issue in the early 2000s. I bought the container used and the problem had been addressed, but incorrectly. I should have been more vigilant about knowing my gear and doing routine inspections. I got lucky.
