The Grand Canyon Track sits near Blackheath in the Blue Mountains National Park, west of Sydney. It’s a 6.3 km loop (moderate, 3–4 hours) that descends from the plateau into a cool, fern-filled canyon carved by Greaves Creek, with waterfalls, narrow sandstone passages and occasional creek crossings.
Opened in the early 1900s (1906–1907), it’s one of the region’s earliest purpose-built walking tracks and part of a broader network of heritage-listed Blue Mountains walking tracks.
Popularity has only grown—recent guides even called it Australia’s most popular hike thanks to its dramatic scenery packed into a short circuit.
We started from Evans Lookout.
