After taking the ferry south of the Moria Mine, you reach Freyland and head to Olive Village. As soon as you enter, some dialogue plays and you learn you just missed Edward. This starts a small chase across the desert to find him. At the southeast oasis a traveler says Edward went to the north oasis. In the north oasis the old man says that Edward moved on to the further north oasis. At that oasis talk to the hooded girl and she says that Edward returned to Olive Village. You are taken back to the village and find out he went into the inn. The innkeeper explains he needs Basilisk Scales.
To help Edward, you must explore the Freyland desert and fight random battles until Basilisks appears. You need five Basilisk Scales, but Basilisks are not common and the drops are not guaranteed, so this part can take time. Using a Dark Bottle helps trigger encounters faster. You can find some more easily in the eastern part of the continent. Once you have five Basilisk Scales, go back to Olive Village, sleep at the inn, and you will finally encounter Edward.
After talking with Edward, go back to Alvanista and talk to Lundgrom at the sorcery lab. He needs a day to get permission for you to enter the Ymir Forest, so resting at the inn moves the story forward. When you return and talk with Lundgrom, you receive a crest. Because Half-Elves are not allowed in Ymir Forest, Arche leaves the party temporarily and waits at the inn.

Tales of Phantasia (テイルズ オブ ファンタジア) is a real-time action RPG developed by Wolf Team and published by Namco for the Super Famicom. It is the first game in the long-running Tales series originally released only in Japan in December 1995. For its time, it was a very advanced game thanks to Hiroya Hatsushiba’s “Flexible Voice Driver,” which allowed impressive voice acting and a fully voiced opening song, Yume wa Owaranai by Yoshida Yukari. The character designs by Kōsuke Fujishima gave it a distinct anime look, and it introduced the Linear Motion Battle System used throughout the series.
The PlayStation version (1998) improves the game with better graphics, smoother gameplay, redrawn characters and backgrounds, and a 3D world map. It also adds voiced skits, cooking, and titles these features that later became key elements in future Tales games.
English Localization version 1.0 produced by Phantasian Productions. Tales of Phantasia PSX Addendum v1.1b by mteam, mziab & FlamePurge.
