This is a brief look into how writer/director Damien Chazelle shifts the viewers expectations. This was my first time ever scoring anything with jazz music, and also my first time using drums in a score, so the music might be a little distracting. I honestly don't know how well I did at that.
I made some mistakes in this video. This is me correcting them...
Something I forgot to mention is that in the scene where Andrew asks the girl out, she initially pretends to reject him, then she says that she's kidding. This is another instance of an expectation change. I also forgot to say that I used clips from The Dark Knight and Silver Linings Playbook in the credits.
