Tender Chaos: How the Tender Process Undermines Construction Projects

"We' have a problem and something MUST change.
By "we", Jamie is talking about construction as a whole as well as individual businesses within it.

And what's the problem?
Contractor Tendering.

The tendering process is fundamentally flawed and undermines the quality of contractor proposals submitted as a result of the process. Which, ultimately, affects the end client for whom the building is being delivered.

This isn't the first time we've talked about the trouble with tendering and why serious change is needed if we really want to change the perception of the industry.

in this video Jamie shares our recent experience of a tender process in full candid detail.

He talks about everything from erroneous paperwork to unanswered clarifications, inadequate timescales demonstrating ignorance of what is involved in a contractor putting together a robust, quality response, to appalling communication within the client's professional team when it comes to crucial site visits.

And finally, Jamie share what we did as a result of this experience - what would you have done?

If we, as an industry, are serious about changing the perception of construction, improving the quality of delivered projects and reducing the risk of more contractors falling into administration, we need to start by tackling how projects are tendered.
