SAVE THE KURDS: THE SIMPLE TRUTH
At 9.30pm on the evening of Monday 13 May 1991, Channel 2 screened a delayed telecast of a benefit concert which took place at Wembley Stadium and ended that morning NZ time. Known as "Save the Kurds: The Simple Truth", the concert was to raise money for the Kurdish refugees whose plight had been exposed worldwide since the Gulf War. Artists performing live at the concert included Gloria Estefan, Peter Gabriel, MC Hammer, Sinead O'Connor, Paul Simon, Sinead O'Connor, Paul Simon, Rod Stewart and Sting.
