Con motivo de su participación en el International Literary Festival Dublin (ILFD) en mayo de 2025, tuvimos la oportunidad de conversar con el escritor Javier Cercas, una de las figuras más destacadas y reconocidas de la literatura española contemporánea.

Cercas es conocido por explorar, con pasión, perspicacia y una profunda honestidad narrativa, las zonas más ambiguas de aquello que nos hace humanos. A lo largo de su carrera ha construido una obra plural y poderosa, en la que los límites entre ficción, memoria e historia se entrecruzan de forma magistral. Entre sus libros más celebrados se encuentran "Soldados de Salamina" —que vendió más de un millón de copias en todo el mundo y obtuvo numerosos premios literarios—, "El inquilino", "La velocidad de la luz" y "Anatomía de un instante". Su obra ha sido traducida a más de veinte idiomas, consolidando su proyección internacional.

Su novela "El castillo de Barbazul: Terra Alta III" cuenta con traducción al inglés, "Fortress of Evil", realizada por Anne McLean, acercando así su universo literario a un público aún más amplio.

On the occasion of his participation in the International Literary Festival Dublin (ILFD) in May 2025, we had the opportunity to speak with the writer Javier Cercas, one of the most prominent and widely acclaimed figures in contemporary Spanish literature.

Cercas is known for exploring, with passion, insight, and profound narrative honesty, the most ambiguous areas of what makes us human. Throughout his career, he has built a powerful and multifaceted body of work in which the boundaries between fiction, memory, and history intersect in masterful ways. Among his most celebrated books are "Soldiers of Salamis" —which sold more than a million copies worldwide and received numerous literary awards— "The Tenant and the Motive", "The Speed of Light", and "The Anatomy of a Moment". His writing has been translated into more than twenty languages, consolidating his international presence.

His novel "Fortress of Evil", the English translation of "El castillo de Barbazul: Terra Alta III", translated by Anne McLean, brings his literary universe to an even wider audience.
