New year comes with New machine installations for Merti Level four Hospital

Isiolo County Government has procured modern medical equipment for Merti Level Four Hospital in an effort to improve healthcare service delivery in the region. The new equipment includes an X-ray machine, modern dental equipment, an ultrasound machine, and theatre equipment. This move aims to decentralize specialized medical services that were previously only available at Isiolo Referral Hospital in Isiolo Town.

In addition to upgrading medical infrastructure, the county government has strengthened its human resource capacity by employing new healthcare workers and digitizing healthcare service provision and reporting systems to enhance efficiency and accountability.

Speaking during a routine inspection at Merti Level Four Hospital, Isiolo County Secretary Dade Boru cautioned healthcare workers against laxity in their duties. He announced that all leave and permission applications for health workers will henceforth be processed online.

Boru also dismissed claims that clinical officers were on strike, warning non-unionized staff to adhere strictly to their contract terms and service delivery guidelines.

Addressing concerns over Community Health Promoters (CHPs), Boru noted that many have not received their stipends from the national government. He directed the Chief Officer for Health, Dr. Muhamud, to follow up on the matter.

Dr. Muhamud stated that the newly acquired equipment is intended to bring essential healthcare services closer to residents, reducing the need for patients to travel to Isiolo Town. He noted that pregnant mothers will now access ultrasound services locally, while tuberculosis patients will be diagnosed at the facility using the new X-ray machine.

He further assured residents that essential drugs and medicines are available at all major health facilities across the county and added that installation of the new equipment at Merti Level Four Hospital will be completed in the coming weeks
