In Texas, you generally don’t have to identify yourself to a police. There are only a few circumstances where you can be charged with failure to identify. The first is if you give a fake or fictitious name to an officer when you are under arrest, being detained, or you are a potential witness to a crime. The second, is if you are under arrest and you refuse to provide your name, address, or date of birth. You also have to give your drivers license to an officer if you are driving and an officer requests it, but not if you’re a passenger. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your case, feel free to call at 210-942-4997 or schedule a free consultation at the link below.
