Visiting Peru: Aguas Calientes, Cusco, & Puno with Intrepid

🇵🇪 Part Two: Our 9-Day Peru Adventure with Intrepid Travel – From Cusco to Lake Titicaca

In Part Two of our unforgettable 9-day trip to Peru with Intrepid Travel, we journey from the lush landscapes of Aguas Calientes back to Cusco and beyond—into the highlands and heart of Peruvian culture on Lake Titicaca.

🌄 Day 4 – Aguas Calientes + Return to Cusco
After exploring the incredible Machu Picchu, we had a few hours to explore Aguas Calientes. We had lunch at Chullos, found a cozy second-story coffee shop overlooking the river, and wandered through the town's markets before boarding the train back to Cusco.

🌿 Day 5 – Free Day in Cusco
Cusco invites you to slow down and breathe it all in—literally. From souvenir shopping at San Pedro Market to exploring the Choco Museum or finding photogenic streets, Cusco has plenty of things to do.

• Mirador de San Cristobal (amazing panoramic views of Cusco!)

🚐 Day 6 – Journey to Puno + Lake Titicaca
We traveled across the Andean highlands to reach Puno, home to Lake Titicaca—the world's highest navigable lake at 12,500 ft. Dinner at Mojsa Restaurant introduced us to delicious local trout and a blend of Aymara and Quechuan culture.

🏝 Day 7 – Uros Floating Islands + Homestay
This day was truly unforgettable. We visited the handmade reed islands of the Uros people and learned about their pre-Incan history. Then, we stayed with a local family—helping with daily chores, sharing meals, and even dressing in traditional Peruvian attire.

✈️ Day 8 – Farewell to the Highlands + Return to Lima
After breakfast with our host family, we flew from Juliaca to Lima. Our final group dinner was at Tanta. We're so glad we could eat at one of Peru's top restaurants that celebrates traditional flavors with a modern twist. Highly recommend if you're in Lima!

🎒 Day 9 – Goodbye, Peru
We said farewell to our new friends, packed our bags, and flew home with full hearts and unforgettable memories—from alpacas and ancient ruins to reed boats and home stays.
