In 2016, Raj Khanpara was just a teenager in class 11, studying in a hostel, when a strange pain gripped his chest and abdomen. What he first thought was gas turned out to be something far more serious — pancreatitis, a condition where the pancreas begins to digest itself. The diagnosis didn’t come easily. After days of vomiting, weakness, and confusion, he was admitted for nearly three weeks. Doctors treated the immediate inflammation but gave him a chilling reality:
“This will keep coming back. There’s no cure.”

Pancreatitis, especially in its chronic form, is a condition that scars not just the pancreas but a person’s entire way of life. For Raj, it meant living with fear — of the next attack, of what food might trigger it, of hospital admissions that could last weeks. Between 2016 and 2021, he suffered 5 major attacks, one of which left him in the ICU for 25 days and diagnosed with diabetes. His entire college life passed under dietary restrictions — bland, boiled food, no outings with friends, and constant anxiety about whether he’d even complete his education.

Doctors had a fixed line:
“Attack आएगा, एडमिट होना पड़ेगा। सूजन कम हो जाएगी, डिस्चार्ज कर देंगे। ज़िंदगी ऐसे ही चलेगी।”
No one offered a way out. Only survival.

But Raj wasn’t ready to settle for a lifetime of pain and pills. In late 2024, after watching testimonials and speaking to over a dozen recovered patients across Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, he discovered Padaav, an Ayurvedic specialty center for chronic illnesses.
