Shri Kumar Chintha is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 2017 batch, belonging to the Maharashtra cadre. He currently serves as the Superintendent of Police (SP) for the Yavatmal district in Maharashtra.


Prior to his posting in Yavatmal, Chintha gained significant experience serving in the challenging, Naxal-affected region of Gadchiroli. His tenure in these sensitive areas has been marked by a focus on community-centric policing and youth engagement.


Notably, he is the initiator of "Operation Prasthan," a flagship program aimed at fostering better police-public relations. This initiative focuses on skill development for unemployed youth, providing them with training for job opportunities as a means to prevent crime. The program also includes the formation of village-level 'Gram Suraksha Dal' (Village Protection Squads) comprising youth volunteers to assist the police. This effort has been recognized for its positive impact on connecting with the local populace and building trust.
